Welcome to the world!

My partner and I are so proud and exhaustedly happy to announce that our baby boy we were expecting, has finally arrived into this world. Jackson Leslie Thomas arrived into this beautiful world on the 2nd November 2017 at 4:30am. I know not every reader is going to be interested in my birth story. But this post is more for my records, to look back on.

I must start by saying, I have a newfound appreciation and respect to every mother out in this crazy world. I have to say this was the most difficult and intense end of pregnancy journey ever. I had an idea that labour and birth wasn’t going to be easy and very painful, however I wasn’t expecting what I felt. It”s an extremely intense feeling of pain.

In preparation for the big day, I had my hospital bag packed, and a birth plan written. Although everything happened so fast, and there was somethings in my plan I just couldn’t do. I originally planned to be as active as possible through labour. However, the contractions were just so intense, I just couldn’t deal with it. Because of my difficulty dealing with it, as the contractions got way worse, and my partner phoned the hospital back up, they told us to come straight it in, and they’d have a room set up for us, and the water birth pool ready.

I must say that trip back to the hospital felt like the longest 15/20 minute drive felt like forever. When we got to the hospital, the security guard got me a wheelchair, because between contractions I could not walk. It was 3am when I got into the pool, and labour was established. My original plan was no painkillers, as natural as possible. I ended up having a little gas and air, but I didn’t feel like it had much of an effect on me. This lead to me barely using it. For my first time, labour only lasted an hour and a half.

Jackson arrived 6 days late, on the 2nd November 2017 at 4:30am.
