What. A. Film.
I cannot even tell you, how excited I am, that Joker is finally released. I’ve been excited since Joaquin Phoenix was casted as Arthur Fleck, and absolutely buzzing since seeing the first promotional trailer, then all the press and media coverage. As its a review, this will contain a spoiler alert.
Although it wasn’t the most enjoyable viewing, when you have ‘little’ kids sat right behind me, talking through th entire film. Such a pet peeve, why can’t people be polite a nod courteous in a cinema screening. A busy one at that, nearly the whole screen, sold out. Hopefully I can get a second viewing in before I permanently publish this post.
I will say this isn’t the type of film, everyone would assume it to be. Yes the storyline is a little slow moving, but in terms of the gradual upbuilt it conveys. I thought it was done so well in every aspect. The portrayed mental health in society subject is very well done in my opinion, and surprisingly accurate. That it’s kind of scary.
Not that the joker should be sympathised in any way, but it was certainly relatable to an extent. The difference and clashes in society and the political world, the government.
Its definitely one to watch, Joaquin Phoenix is up there with a great portrayal. I fully recommend a view.
