War Dogs: Film Review

This post will be set out differently to my other film reviews. Because I have to say, that this film is a must see. I’ll try to write with no spoilers, but as per usual, consider this your spoiler warning. I saw the trailer for this film several times, in it’s run up to the release date, and have been pretty excited about it.

Although it has a slightly bizarre set up, with captions, I thoroughly enjoyed the film, and would happily buy the DVD when it comes out. I thought, seeing that it’s the same director that did The Hangover trilogy, that War Dogs would be a comedy.I was mainly wrong, it wasn’t really funny. Don’t get me wrong, there was some laughs here and there, mainly from Jonah Hill’s laugh. It was a pretty serious film.

To me, this film has certainly cemented Jonah’s acting talent, in being able to do both comedy and serious films. Also I feel it’s a great title for Miles Teller to add to his acting resume. They deserve a huge credit and applause for their acting, and they’re portrayal of partner roles. Bradley Cooper’s supporting role, was also great, and some people may even say it was close to outshining the main cast.

I really hope they’ll make a sequel, because I would love to see that.

Estee Lauder: Blogger’s Event.

I had the pleasure of attending the first blogger’s event, from Estee Lauder at Boots in Cribbs Causeway.  Which I’m still buzzing, while I write this post. But I’m also excited to be able to share with my followers and readers, an exclusive gift, when you buy something with them in store. I’ll explain more about this at the end of this post. Before that, I’d like to share my experience, and the innovative makeup and skincare products, I got to try out, and some freebies I can trail at home!

But let’s start at the beginning, the event was held at the Scavi and Ray Prosecco Bar, in The Mall, Cribbs Causeway. Which was a cute venue for it being an open bar but was perfect for a designer event. I only had a non alcoholic version of prosecco, as I was driving and that’s the responsible choice. There was also some really dainty snacks, including little chocolates, fresh strawberries, olives and my favourite macaroons. I wore my current favourite maxi dress, my number one platform shoes and leather jacket.

At this event, I also finally was able to find a foundation that actually matches my skin. One of the reasons why I don’t wear makeup often, is because it’s been difficult for me to find the right shade of foundation for my pale skin. I’m happy that Estee Lauder has that perfect match for me. It will certainly be something I’ll invest in. I received an adorably small gift bag, of freebies from attending the event.  But I’m going  to write about most of the things that was in the gift bag. I’m going to trial, and will do a follow up post, about specific products. So if I miss something here, it’ll be in the follow up. During the event, there was demonstrations of their newest products.

I’d like to start with their night time, skincare routine. Both items I received are completely innovative to the night time routine. I have a Night Wear Plus, Anti Oxidant Night Detox Cream and the Advanced Night Repair. Both items have a pleasant smell, which can help with having a relaxing sleep. At the end of a long day, when you’re really tired, taking your makeup off, after the long day, can seem like a chore. But Estee Lauder’s Take It Away, makeup remover lotion, with hints of lavender, makes the job seem effortless. I also have the Daywear Advanced Multi Protection Anti Oxidant Cream and the Little Black Eyelash Primer to try, which I’ll review in an upcoming post. I got a sample of my perfect match, foundation from their double wear range. It lasts for up to 15 hours, is oil free, sheer to medium coverage and has a semi matte finish. As I said before, I will be investing in this! If you’re unsure about the perfect shade for you, just pop in to their counter in the Boots in Cribbs Causeway, and they’ll match you for free. It also included what is my now favourite fragrance. Their latest fragrance, Modern Muse. I love the smell of this, and will also invest in more in the future.

As I mentioned in the beginning of this rather long and wordy post, I have got a lovely treat for my readers and followers. You will receive an exclusive free gift from Estee Lauder, when you go in store, when you present the below voucher. Please note, this is only valid at the Estee Lauder stand, inside Boots, in The Mall, Cribbs Causeway. Insert Voucher below.

free gift for readers

Such a long and wordy post, but I had a great time at the event, and can’t wait to attend any in the near future. A big well done to the whole team at Estee Lauder Boots and a thank you for letting me attend! If you use this voucher via my blog, then tweet me on twitter: @RebeccaKLxo

Lights Out: Film Review

Finally got around to watching Lights Out yesterday after I finish work. I was really not disappointed with the film at all. The overall concept to the film, I found intriguing. I will not post any storyline spoilers!

Gabriel Bateman stole the show, with his acting, portraying Martin, the 12 year old son. Teresa Palmer also did a good job! As well as the supporting actors and actresses in the film.  Some of which are no stranger to the horror genre.

The story is no short of jump scares, and horror, starting in the first 3 minutes of the film and being consistent throughout the film. I was also impressed with how realistically the film was able to portray mental illness. I realize that could be seen as pretty controversial, but having my problems with mental illness, I thought it was done well.  It’ll always be a taboo topic.

I hope there’s a sequel! I’d love to see this develop more. You should seriously go watch Lights Out if you get a chance!

Mike and Dave need Wedding Dates: Film Review

After my 9 hour long shift at work I thought, why not treat myself and watch Mike and Dave. I saw several trailers for the film, and some cast interviews, discussing the truth behind the film. You could clearly say, I’d done my research. I must say I had high hopes and expectations for the film. As do all my film reviews, here is the spoiler warning. I’ll do my best not to put any in, but I can’t help it if something slips in.

I do have to start by commending Aubrey Plaza, Anna Kendrick, Adam Devine and Zac Efron on their portrayals of the role. I did find the guy’s acting, their over the top, humour pretty funny. Though I was disappointed, that Zac Efron was only topless for like 15 minutes, in the entirety of the film. I’m not being funny, but most women want to see him topless for longer than 15 minutes in any film, he’s in. They’re combined acting was honestly the most enjoyable part of the film.

Knowing the real life story behind the film, I thought it’d be more outrageous than it was. I was disappointed in the plot, and how the film felt like it was finished before it had even started. It was also predictable!

If you are a fan of Zac Efron or Adam Devine, I suggest watching it! Don’t let my opinion ruin the film.

Nerve: Film Review

I got around to watching Nerve today, after I finished work early. I was drawn to this film for many reasons; I enjoyed the trailer to it, I’m a fan of Dave Franco’s work and I’m intrigued by the concept of the film. I will do my best to not provide any spoilers, but I’m going to include a spoiler warning, just in case.

It’s really well put together in film making, mixing real life scenes, with online interface and phone camera footage.  So a big well done to the director, camera crew and production team. As well as a big nod, to the great acting from Emma Roberts and Dave Franco, especially with some of the dares. Also for any other females out there, who find Dave Franco hot, the department store scene, will be your favourite scene in the film. They also cleverly worked in a romantic plot line.

There is only one point of issue, I personally thought about the film. After a certain point in the film (not giving any spoilers away), I thought they sort of rushed the story towards the end. But it didn’t really ruin my enjoyment. I would watch this film many more times, and would recommend it to you!

Super Cars & Race Tracks.

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I travelled up to the Everyman Motor Racing Prestwold. Last christmas, I got my boyfriend one of those driver experiences. He got the chance to drive Nissan GTR and the Mclaren 570s around their race track. Everyman also had plenty of other supercars there such as; Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lamborghini Balboni, Ferrari 458 Italia, Nissan GTR, Audi R8, BMW I8, Ariel Atom, Aston Martin DB9, and Ferrari F430. Those are what I managed to get photographs of. There was also a Bentley GTC and Porsche 997 Turbo, but I couldn’t really get photos of them, as it was pretty busy!

I will include my favourite 3 photos I took below:

And a plus of a group shot below:

For all the pictures I took, you can see them on my facebook photography page: http://www.facebook.com/rklxophotography. I took 85 pictures altogether to be precise.

If you ever get the chance to visit and drive these cars, I’ll recommend it!

Suicide Squad Review

I’m going to start this review saying fuck you, to all the critics that gave Suicide Squad a negative review. They have no idea what true fans of the comics want, especially when Zack Snyder is making them exactly like the comic. Yesterday I got to watch the Suicide Squad at the midnight screening, last night. I even got the cinema staple of a Tango ice blast, a mix of 3 flavours, cherry, blue raspberry, strawberry and kiwi.

It’s safe to say, that every DC comic fan, should just ignore the critics. The track record starting with Batman V Superman, and now this. I think it’s pretty clear the next DC film will also be negatively received by critics.

A nod to all the amazing actors and actresses that worked hard at staying true to portraying their characters, as if they were plucked straight from the comics. With even more kudos going to Margot Robbie and Jared Leto, for killing their roles as Harley Quinn and The Joker, especially their twisted love story. There was also some pretty funny moments and one liners. Greg Nicotero and team did a killer job, with the makeup and special effects for Killer Croc (no pun intended) . It also beautifully set up the first Justice League film.

I suggest you should go watch it, especially if you’re a fan of DC. Even as a stand alone action film. I highly recommend watching it!
